SG Mahjong | bugs | chat

The first real, full-featured Mahjong game based on Singapore Mahjong Rules on iPhone and iPod Touch.

Fastest, most addictive & challenging. Now you can play Singapore Mahjong on the go, even without your friends. No more 3-missing-1 again.

Full version features:
1) 3 levels of difficulties for novice, advance & expert players. 8 AI players with different playing style to taunt you.

2) Clean & clear GUI that allow enjoyable gameplay for hours.
– Comes with speed selection & tile color selection, it’s up to you.

3) Comes with all SG Mahjong rules
– 13 Terminals hand is possible, if you can do it!
– In SG Mahjong, our beloved bites & gongs are back.

4) Character selection
– 9 avatars to choose from. Use your own name as well.
– Up to 3 profiles to save your character in. Yes, you can save your progress!

5) Motivating ranking system
– A scoring board to keep track of all human and AI players.
– Be careful of going bust or quitting a round, the penalty is heavy.

Singapore Mahjong tile system has 148 tiles, with 3 suits, 7 honor, 4 animal and 8 flower tiles. The scoring system is based on doubling the winnings for every point (or tai) until a maximum of 5. There are no joker tiles.

Like all other Mahjong, what tile a player discards and accepts from other players is very important. And since there are 13 tiles in a hand, Mahjong strategy can be very complex and challenging. At professional level, players even have to keep track of what tiles other players discard.

Because of the combination of the deep analysing and calculation of probability and strategy, and memorising of discarded tiles, this game is considered to be a very effective way to keep old folks from being senile and memory loss.

Young people also enjoy this game to because it is the perfect way for social gathering (with excitement).

Do support us! We will continue to update this game with even more features.

  1. Chee Mun says:

The software does not recognise the following as Game combo:
    – four continuous tiles (1 to 4) and either 1 or 4 is put on the table and can be used as eyes to game the hand

  2. ClericTaven says:

While I’ve played tiles for along time, I have gotten caught with a few hands where I was unable to go out since I had not scored the minimum 1 point.
I’ve captured a few screens during play which I believe were valid winning hands ie honor dragons, but the game alerted that I was still insufficient.
Overall – I am thankful you all created the App, so I have patience that logic flaws can be worked out in future updates.

  3. Carlos says:

I find that I sometimes do not win with an all sequence hand (4 chows and a pair) Is their a rule I don’t know about or is it a glitch?

  4. Ping says:

May I know how do I play the tournament for sg mahjong?

  5. ClericTaven says:

Thank you for your reply to my recent email. If I may share with the others here about Sequence hands. {Also check the other postings under “lite” explaining circumstances when to go out).

The first sequence win was not possible in Singapore Mahjong because you have a dragon pair.
The only honor pair possible are the winds without other support points.

For the 2nd hand, it’s a bug and will be solved in the new release. (Dragon Honor pongs)

    The 3rd hand is not possible to win because a sequence hand can only be counted if you are waiting on 2 or more tiles;
in your case you are waiting for a single tile.

    Sequence hand have many restrictions.

  6. JimmyC says:

I’ve encountered 2 scenarios, 1 similar to ClericTaven above:

    1) I have a half colour set – with 2 triplets of dragons already open and the rest are character suit. I was waiting last set of dragon. One of the player threw out the last card of that dragon tile, but instead, the screen showed that I have less than 1 point. I was still able to game tho after that. So basically, the 1 point (infact, would be 5 points), but I couldn’t game at all, and it always happen when you get a “gong”, and then the replacement tile that you get from the gong is your winning tile, but the program does not allow you to win. I had to throw out the tile, and wait again.

I have screenshots to show if required.

  7. JimmyC says:

Oops, I realised that my comment earlier was somehow truncated..

    1) I have a half colour set – with 2 triplets of dragons already open and the rest are char suit. I was waiting for the last set of dragon. One of the player threw out the last tile of that dragon set, but instead, the screen showed that I have less than 1 point and cannot game. I could still game after that tho. Basically, the screen was shown incorrectly, but it didn’t affect the game.

    2) I’ve encountered this twice. I have a legitimate game which would have gotten 5 points. But I couldn’t game at all, and it always happen when you get a “gong”, and then the replacement tile that you get from the gong is your winning tile, but the program does not allow you to win. I had to throw out the tile and wait again. Not sure if you get what I mean..

I have screenshots to show if required.

  8. Barbara says:

I have received a point on a winning game called “flower up”. What is that?

    • ClericTaven says:

A “flower up” or “gong up” is based on a self win when the final winning tile is from a ‘replacement’ drawn.

The way the wall is created and subsequently pulled is from the same side; however, the replacement tiles for flowers, seasons, animals and gongs (an extra 4th tile on pong) is from the opposite end.

A very rare case where a player wins the deal based on that replacement tile! Well worth the extra Point (or double) reward.

  9. Darius says:

The app keep clashing after the most recent update.

  10. Kathy says:

After I update the new version to my iPhone, the apps is not working. What should I do now to fix that problem? I can’t no longer play it. It frustrating

  11. Emmie says:

I am unable to install the full paid version of SG Mahjong on my Ipod Touch 2nd generation. I keep getting an error message that the application is not compatible with my version of Ipod.

  12. Wenjie says:

    Hi,

The new version is full of bug.

I cant save the game speed(It always goes back slowest when i restart.)

When i game and exit the app, the nx time i come back on, the finish shows every single combination, making it full tai.

If exit halfway through the game, when i come back, I wont be able to game even i’ve got a animal already.

    • Walter says:

Stop freaking out imeamidtely. I know flooring and property management and have been to asbestos seminars. There is not an immediate danger from asbestos exposure, the problem is abrading asbestos and breathing it, it can cause problems down the road, usually with lots of exposure. They used to use asbestos in housing (and car brakes incedentally) all the time, so it’s not like you’re going to drop dead from this anytime soon.By tile it sounds like you mean vinyl tile. Both the vinyl and the adhesive, which is what I think the black stuff is, may contain asbestos if it was installed prior to 1983. Supposedly, you can’t tell by looking at it if it contains asbestos or not. My boss (in flooring for 35 years) will break a tiny piece in half and if he sees tiny fibers will tell me it probably has asbestos but we have to test before we demo. To test for asbestos, you can put a small sample in a plastic bag and send it to a lab. They charge for this but it isn’t much, maybe $30 or so. The lab I use is here in California, their website is kellcomacs.com. There may be labs closer to you, try a websearch for asbestos testing labs.In the meantime, do not vaccuum or sweep up the debris. Asbestos fibers can be contained by water, so if this is in your house and you want to secure it til you know what is going on, spray the whole area down with water, which will adhere to the asbestos fibers and keep them from floating through the air, then you can wipe the surface off with a dampened towel or rags, contain the towel or whatever you wipe it off with in a plastic bag and get rid of it. To keep the fibers from abrading while wait for results, let it dry off and then spray it with paint, varnish or anything that will coat the surface, this will contain the asbestos fibers (if there are any).Again, stop freaking out. Asbestos has been used in homes for many years (and still exists in more than half the homes in my area) and the small exposure you may have had is unlikely to cause a problem. If it does, you won’t know about it for decades anyway. The severe danger is really from repeated or prolonged exposure like contruction workers who handle it every day. On many of my jobs that have tested positive for asbestos, the customers have not wanted to pay for asbestos mitigation and have just torn the product out themselves (I am not allowed to remove more than 100 square feet of asbestos containing material) and as far as I know, they’re all still alive.I hope this helps.

  13. edmund says:

doesn’t look like there is “qiang gang” (steal gong to game) or “men qing” (all tiles self drawn). can add these in?

also, if these and other rules can be put in option menu then players can customize according to their usual playing rules.

    • clouette says:

ROB GONG is implemented. MEN QING is not implemented because it is not an official rule in SG Mahjong. It is in a HK Mahjong rule, however.

  14. ClericTaven says:

A suggestion clouette – since version 2.2 appears stable enough, could you maybe rename this as “SG Mahjong v1 | bugs” and then start a fresh thread with an updated description of the added features?

While the iPod Touch (Gen1) lacks Bluetooth support, I am looking forward to reading feedback from the other players who play multiplayer mode. Partially curious if there are only 3, is it possible to add a 4th AI player or does everyone have to be ‘breathing’?

I certainly am looking forward to a future release which expands to internet based hosted table/lobby.

  15. clouette says:

Oh yeah, thanks for the suggestion.

For multiplayer, if there’re only 3 human players, the 4th will be AI. If there’re 2 player, the other 2 will be AI.

Yes internet version coming, when I found a suitable hosting service =)

  16. Don says:

When I have a chow displayed on the table for the other players to see, I could actually move the tiles around and even discard them. Is this a bug?

  17. Eric says:

Hey how do i change the language to chinese?

  18. James says:

Program exits unexpectedly sometimes when on multiplayer for both server and client.

When game is rejoined, the seatings are jumbled up and the joining party normally ends up taking the seat, money and cards of a previously AI’s seat.

  19. Glenn says:

My wife has this game on her iphone. I love it. Please make a Blackberry version!

  20. Wong Gei says:

Thank you for the nice game.

Suggestion for improvement. Sound effect when someone discard discard a tile really sound live but too noisy due to the un-processed ending. I can hear a “pop” created by the iphone speaker which is quit annoying. It will be appreciated if the wave/sound files can be ended smoothly instead of immediately πŸ™‚

Anyway, thanks again for the hard work and keep it up.

  21. Sporean says:

I like the game but hope you can include the additional features below:

The limits seem max is 6. Can we have it more as the player hits certain number of rounds

Secondly, it will be more exciting to have all the 4 suits of tiles for 3 player.

  22. Wong Gei says:

Never try the Bluetooth mode but really appriciate if you can setup a sever so that i can find iPhone friend around the world and not just around me.

  23. random says:

How do i unlock more max “tai”.
i know its supposed to be hard mode, but what’s the “thing” i need to unlock?
    more earnings?
    bust more people?

  24. dk says:

Chinese version needed! After update the language change was removed! My mum cant understand anything!

  25. Gt says:

Game hangs. Created a new profile and same thing happens after sone time

  26. Edwin Lim says:

    Any Android Version coming?

  27. Bigman says:

I recently upgraded to iOS 5 of my iPad 2 and the game crashes within the time of one round. I’ve already re-installed, but still crashes. Any updates for iOS 5 coming? I love the game, but can’t play anymore. Please help…

  28. Jason yee says:

I just purchased the mahjong hd, however, it will go back to the iPad’s main page when I start the game, effectively meaning that i can’t play at all. Pls advise. Running on iOS 5

    • Hazel says:

As an Environment Artist, when building tlblaeie textures the first thing I do is use the High Pass Filter with a very high value, like 150 or 200, then, immediately afterwards, use the Filter Fade function and select Luminosity. This will remove large, soft areas of light / dark contrast that you see in the texture in the video. Photographs will often vignette slightly, or the nature of the light or the content of the image itself might cause the offset corners to have seriously different values. Using the High Pass Filter can can fix this, but can also wash out an image. That’s why you need to go to Luminosity, to return the color and punch to the image. Also I don’t ever repeat a large part of the image within the image. If I need to cover up a large area I would use part of the image that I didn’t select in the first place.Thx for your updates Matt~

  33. Fedup says:

Agreed, I bought the game after installing iOS 5, meaning I paid for it but did not play a single game. Can the developer show basic courtesy to at least give us an update

  34. Angry in Singapore says:

Am having the same issue – the program crashes every single time after gaming. The stupid thing is that its still there when you double click but its starts from scratch again. Please at least have the courtesy to inform everyone what the issue is and when you are going to fix it- Even SMRT does that !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  35. Anonymous says:

Is this developer not going to fix this bug? Either put it down as a note in the app description or fix it ASAP. Considering iOS 5 has been out awhile now, there should have been adequate time to fix this problem.

  36. Chee Tat says:

Hi, your Mahjong HD app when played on iPad, closes by itself after every round. I have tried deleting and reinstalling the app, restarting my iPad but all to no avail. Please advise!

  37. Angry customer says:

Are you guys fixing the iPad version actually? Feel so freaking cheated….

Please advise on when would the crashing bug be fixed soonest.

  38. Anony2012 says:

Give us our money back if you can’t or win’t fix this! $5 refund to everyone!

    • Gulnaz says:

It will always be wise for Nokia to give Symban and Meego a cnhcae and keep them alive and kicking being just a vendoe for MS. But as far as update for current devices is concerned, how single core and lower resolution devices are supposed to get updated to HD display and multicores. Software wise i think features will come and new apps will also arrive with updates like Tango and wp7.8. Lumias are still very smooth devices and with Nokia exclusive apps they are in a leagure apart than the rest.
